Inspiration from the heart
HeARTworks Gallery and Gifts, an entrepreneurial venture of the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities and SAW, Inc., launched its retail journey in 2007. The enterprise promotes the work of local artists who have developmental disabilities. Its name emphasized the commitment and enthusiasm of the artists with developmental disabilities.
Located on the lower level of the Galleria downtown, the HeARTworks store offers wall art, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, batik scarves, greeting cards, doggie glam products and gift items. Customers can also find HeARTworks items on line and at many of the local art fairs held in the area, especially in the summer months. Each purchase makes an impact on an individual artist’s life.
As HeARTworks grows into a self-sustaining enterprise, it gives a voice and medium to the artists to communicate their views, impressions and perceptions of the world as they see and experience it. This exchange between the buyers and the artists creates a personal connection with all involved that enriches each one’s life.
