About Our Board Members

A seven-member volunteer board oversees the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Board members serve a four-year term and may be reappointed to two additional terms, for a maximum of 12 years of service.

The presiding judge of the Cuyahoga County Probate Court appoints two of the members, one of whom must be an immediate family member of a child or adult eligible for services.

Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald, with the consent of the Cuyahoga County Council, appoints the other five members, one of whom must be an immediate family member of a child receiving services and the other of whom must be an immediate family member of an adult receiving services.

Currently, we are awaiting appointment of one more board member by County Executive FitzGerald. The vacancy was created by the resignation of a board member, who relocated out of state in early November 2012.

2013 Board Meeting Schedule

Board meetings are generally held on the fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at the Michael A. Donzella Administration Building, 1275 Lakeside Avenue East, in downtown Cleveland. Meetings are open to the public. The board meeting agenda is posted on our home page under "Latest News" during the week of the meeting.

May 30, 5:30 p.m.  Fifth Thursday

June 27, 5:30 p.m.

July 25, 5:30 p.m.

August 22, 5:30 p.m.

October 24, 5:30 p.m.  The public hearing on the 2014 Program & Expenditures Plann will begin at 5:30 p.m.,  followed by the board meeting at approximately 6:30 p.m.

November 21, 5:30 p.m.  Third Thursday because of the Thanksgiving holiday

December 19, 5:30 p.m.  Third Thursday because of winter break
